When I was a little girl, my older brothers would play a song over and over and over again, and it scared me to death. Its lyrics went: "There was a one-eyed, one-horned, flying purple people eater, a one-eyed, one-horned, flying purple people eater, a one-eyed, one-horned, flying purple people eater...... " and of course, all I heard was that one-eyed, one-horned, flying purple people eater line because it was repeated over and over and over. I remember thinking: "Great. Now there's something more to be scared of." And I was SCARED. Because the Purple People Eater could fly and swoop down and get me. I was an intense little girl. My imagination would keep me awake at night. Well, after a while of being scared of the Purple People Eater, I listened to the lyrics again and finally convinced myself that the Purple People Eater was looking for purple people to eat, so since I wasn't purple, I was safe. We think such silly things when we are young. Today I am paying homage to one of those monsters that kept me awake at night...A one-eyed one-horned purple people eater. Yes, my monsters are purple dipped cake truffle, the flavor of your choice, decorated with a chocolate horn atop their heads and one eye. Don't you love the glossy iris in the eyeball? And for some reason in my picture, there is a light beam erupting from one of the monster's horns. Oooooooooooooooo........scary music playing in the background. As for the flying part, I promise you that these Purple Monster Weecakies will fly off the table and into hungry purple people eater mouths. These are no ordinary cakepops. Happy Halloween!

Every once in a while I get to do Weecakies for wedding favors. The bride contacted me and requested Weecakies with a "Tropical " theme. The groom wanted chocolate and the bride wanted coconut, so this is what I came up with. The sea shells are white chocolate, dusted with edible luster powders. The hibiscus are sugar , cut and pressed and then highlighted with color. These took some major planning and preparation. The flowers have to be made at least a week in advance so they can dry in a cupped shape. The sea shells need hardening time also, not to mention the time to hand dust the details onto them. The cake truffles inside are rich and creamy coconut and decadent double chocolate. All are dipped in fabulous Callebaut Chocolate. My favorite is the look of the coconut, although the sea shells are pretty neat. They even look real-but I promise, they will melt in your mouth. By the way, the "sand" is raw sugar. I think that the "Tropical Wedding" will be wonderful. The bride and groom have great taste!
Happy Weecakie Wedding!
Ah, 'tis the heat of the summer and I couldn't resist growing watermelons.....well, making watermelons. Watermelon is one of my favorite summer-time treats. There is nothing quite as thirst quenching as a serving of cold watermelon. When my family was young we used to sit in the backyard and have seed spitting contests. We would laugh ourselves silly at the machinations that each of us went through to spit our seeds the farthest. You have to be very careful that you don't inhale or laugh when you have a mouth-full of watermelon seeds, though. I still laugh at the memories of those happy times together with my children. These Watermelon Weecakies, however are different. They are made with a fluffy almond-chocolate chip cake truffle, and double-dipped in two colors of chocolate, then brushed with colored stripes on the outside so they look just like little watermelons. They will melt in your mouth, and although they might not quench your thirst, they will satisfy your sweet tooth during these dog days of summer. Have a happy Watermelon Weecakie Summer!
Love,
Weecakies
P.S. I just saw a post on another website that pictures this type of cakepop-I'm not sure where they originated. You can see other images if you "Google" watermelon cakepops, or go to: nataliescakepops.blogspot.com
